AVIF: Traditions, Yoga Scholarships and Education

AVIF, The American Viniyoga Institute Foundation, is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and further the invaluable tradition of Viniyoga by providing educational yoga scholarships for professional trainings and by educating the public about this powerful life-changing practice.

AVIF’s website is a resource where yoga teachers can apply for scholarships and find teacher and therapist training programs in the Viniyoga tradition. Our website also educates the public about Viniyoga and helps them find their own Viniyoga instructor. We also collect and share the success stories of Viniyoga-trained practitioners, scholarship recipients and Viniyoga practitioners who have seen profound changes in their lives through the practice of Viniyoga.

Members of our board of directors and review committees are graduates of the American Viniyoga Institute founded by Gary Kraftsow.  We are students, teachers and therapists in the tradition of Viniyoga  – the lineage of T Krishnamacharya, taught by his son, TKV Desikachar.  Through this foundation, we continue to preserve and promote these teachings by offering support for curriculum development, yoga therapy research, and providing scholarships to students pursuing Viniyoga education.
